Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.
His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
