Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the incident rendered him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
