A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
